how to land a message

Here's a simple tool I'm going to try in 2025.
When we're seeking to land a message with the team.

Something that's going to prompt a change in behaviour and outcome.
How many times do we need to repeat, repeat, repeat?
Seven ... 11 ... ?
Both numbers get suggested.
Basically: a lot.

But as important as what we're communicating is HOW.
People absorb information in different ways.
Of course they do.

Making sure there's variety in our messaging can help it land.
This just makes sense.
So give the 5x5 approach a go.

Communicate your message at least 5 times in 5 different ways over a short period.
Yes, talk about it at the team meeting. And keep talking about it.
And then ...

... maybe find a video clip to play and share.
Sit down with somebody and physically do something to bring it to life.
Create a reminder or prompt to stick on the edge of a screen.
Find an image to send round digitally.
Celebrate somebody in the team who's exhibiting the behaviour you want ...

You get the gist.
Would love to know any similar tools or frameworks you've got.

🙏 Karin Hurt David Dye who came up with this - their book Courageous Culture is well worth a read/listen.
